School Notes:
- The EASTERN U.S. MUSIC CAMP conducted on the Colgate University campus is designed to provide opportunities and enrichment in all areas of music. Social and recreational activities also are an integral part of the curriculum.
- This well-balanced program offers young people between the ages of 12 and 18 the opportunity to pursue musical studies through individual, class, and group instruction; to perform a wide range of instrumental and choral works in ensemble and concert; and to participate in supervised sports and other informal recreational activities. The program is designed to be a complimentary part of the growth and development of young people. Such musical training builds confidence, teaches concentration, offers social opportunities and helps develop sensitivity to, and pride in, the beautiful things in life. Careers in music are not necessarily the goal of students attending the Camp; the experience is one that will be remembered and valued throughout life in any career. The total musical and social experience has made the Camp one of the most highly regarded music programs in the country.
- Students are supervised 24 hours per day by certified, experienced music faculty and carefully selected and qualified counselors. Counselors reside in the same living areas with the students, with approximately 1:5 ratio.
- Daily recreational and cultural activities include movies, sports and a trip to Cooperstown, NY. Recreational programs (optional) are organized and supervised by the counseling staff and dormitory heads daily. Students are encouraged to take advantage of the extensive athletic facilities of Colgate University, particularly the modern Reid Athletic Center. Sports activities include swimming, tennis, track, volleyball, racquetball, softball, basketball, golf (equipment, lessons available) plus a Fitness Center and Sauna. Craft and art classes are also offered.
