School Notes:

  • One of the nation's finest liberal arts institutions, Mount Holyoke College is a highly selective, nondenominational, residential, liberal arts college for women located in South Hadley, in the Connecticut River valley in western Massachusetts—one of the most culturally and academically vibrant regions of the country.
  • Mount Holyoke is recognized worldwide for its rigorous and innovative academic program, its global community, its legacy of women leaders, and its commitment to connecting the work of the academy to the concerns of the world.
  • SummerMath can help you strengthen your mathematical thinking and communications skills, develop problem solving strategies and computer skills, and build your confidence. SummerMath is a nationally acclaimed four-week program for young women entering ninth through twelfth grades. The program has been featured on ABC World News tonight with Peter Jennings, on the Today Show, and in NewsWeek. We believe young women stay with mathematics longer -- and keep more options open -- when feeling confident and when seeing how math applies to the real world. Because math is in just about everything -- from digital sampling to design to DNA.
  • In each class you will work in pairs, and use your hands, your eyes, your imagination, and each other to discover how math is applies to everyday life. Your instructors and classmates will listen to you and take you seriously. When you have questions, they will work with you to understand. It is a work in which creativity and problem-solving replace lectures and formulas.
