School Notes:
- The mission is to prepare our students for college and for life, and to provide an atmosphere in which all members of a diverse school community appreciate and strive for excellence - an atmosphere which nurtures character and fosters the development of mind, body, and spirit.
- Our curriculum is traditional and rigorous, but not stodgy. Organized around a core of disciplines (English, Mathematics, Foreign Language, Science, History, and Fine Arts), the academic program prepares students for college (and life) in at least three ways: establishing a foundation of understanding in the key areas which underpin modern scholarship; providing essential intellectual and communication skills like critical reading, persuasive writing and speaking, imaginative problem-solving, and deductive reasoning; and imparting work and study habits like organization, planning, and time management.
- Asheville School’s Arts Programs emphasize the fundamentals of art, drama, and music while encouraging personal growth and independence. Students gain self-confidence in a caring, supportive setting. Please explore Asheville School’s many artistic options by choosing the area of interest to you. Offerings in the arts are both curricular and extracurricular.
- Asheville School offers an interesting array of afternoon programs to complement the academic schedule. Every student is required to take part in an afternoon activity for a minimum of 90 minutes Monday through Friday. Every freshman and sophomore is required to participate in one interscholastic sport each year.
