Camp Dudley
School Notes Overview:
Camp Dudley is a gorgeous, first-rate camp on the shores of Lake Champlain, in Adirondack farm country. The main campus has 250 acres and more than two miles of lake frontage, with other land (and a reservoir) used as a hiking outpost in the Adirondack foothills. Facilities are tremendous, both in scope and in the quality of maintenance. There are four baseball diamonds, six basketball courts (2 indoor), four soccer fields, a lacrosse field, eight tennis courts, archery and rifle ranges, an all weather 200 meter track, and a swimming and diving area with a racing pool. I want to stress how immaculately all of these facilities are kept; particularly the tennis and basketball courts and the.....

School Notes:
- Camp Dudley is a gorgeous, first-rate camp on the shores of Lake Champlain, in Adirondack farm country. I want to stress how immaculately all of these facilities are kept; particularly the tennis and basketball courts and the gym, a wonderful building that is wanting for nothing. Dudley also has a superb theater to house its equally superb drama program.
- Activities at Dudley include archery, diving, basketball, fishing, flag football, photography, publications, dramatics, skin diving, softball, golf, lacrosse, life-saving, music training in both instruments and voice, volleyball, water basketball, weight lifting, boating, canoeing, arts and crafts, and a fine trip program, with three- to five-day canoeing or hiking overnights for all.
- Dudley maintains a keen intramural program in athletics such as tennis, wrestling, baseball, soccer, track, swimming, riflery, and sailing. Every boy is assigned to at least one team, and there are plenty of pickup games and opportunities to sign up for instruction in all of the sports as well as in art, music, or dramatics. Underlying values are fair play, generosity to your opponent, and good conduct and language. Special activities throughout the summer include aquatic meets, sailing regattas, treasure hunts, musicals, mass sings, glee clubs, a big band, and a concert band. Anybody who plays an instrument is encouraged to bring it along. And writers will want to join the staff of the camp publications.
- This camp aims to develop values and leadership qualities in its campers and that is exactly what is does. There are several awards: Emblems for the Cubs and Plebes, a Bronze Button for Juniors, and the Camp Flag for Seniors. The Camp Emblem means that a camper has practiced “the other fellow first” and has gained the respect and approval of his fellow campers and leaders. Emphasis is placed on a camper’s working for the good of his cabin group.
- This is one of those rare places where good, caring people are brought together as if by magic. It’s the kind of thing that comes along every now and then that you figure just can’t last. But the people here tell me that this spirit has been here for as long as they can remember. The place simple exudes hugging and compassion as it brings out the best qualities in all of its people.
