School Notes:

  • Camp O-AT-KA offers a caring, supportive environment that encourages campers to try new things—whether it is building skills in traditional athletics, learning how to play steel drums, building your own fly rod, or going on one of our weekly out of camp wilderness trips. We also strive to create an environment that is non-competitive, promotes self-esteem, and fosters independence.
  • Our daily program is designed to expose campers to many activities that they chose themselves (the only mandatory activity is swimming). Campers choose from over 30 activities, and our A day/B day schedule ensures program quality, excellent instructor to camper ratio, and LOTS of variety.
  • Camp O-AT-KA is committed to traditional camping pursuits such as outdoor camping, hiking, and canoeing. Every camper will experience at least one overnight camping trip while they are here, and optional wilderness trips go out every week for the rivers, lakes, mountains, forests, and coasts of Maine.
  • Even more than the reputation of the camp and all the activities the camp offers, the most important consideration in choosing a camp is its staff. Their qualifications and experience will dictate the quality of care and instruction a camper will get, as well as the level of emotional, behavioral, and physical safety that can be maintained.
